Ground Breaker Homes

Ludwig Named President of Des Moines’ Home Builders Group

The HBA of Greater Des Moines would like to announce that Kalen Ludwig of Ground Breaker Homes and People’s Company will be leading our association in 2021.

Kalen has been with Ground Breaker Homes and People’s Company since 2005 after completing her Marketing and Real Estate degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Kalen is a licensed real estate agent with a passion in the building industry. She also writes one of the most widely read industry reports for builders and developers in the metro and hosts a luncheon bringing in speakers that provide an update on the future of the building industry.

Kalen is also leading the charge for our HomeShowExpo by being the developer of the 2021 site and building two homes in the show.

Kalen follows in the footsteps of Rachel Flint, of Hubbell Homes Inc, our outgoing President and Jenna Kimberley, of Kimberley Development, will take the lead in 2022 following Kalen Ludwig.

The HBA of Greater Des Moines has proven to be one of the most forward-thinking associations by electing the first all-female leadership team of Rachel Flint, Kalen Ludwig and Jenna Kimberley, in the National Association of Home Builders history.

Under their leadership, our association will close out 2020 with an increase in membership and retention rate and also hosting four successful shows, with one of them being in its inaugural year.

“Being a woman in this industry does mean we are in the minority, but my goal has always been to be good at my job not because I have to prove myself as a woman, but because I want to be good at what I do. Being nominated gave me the confidence to get even more involved,” said Kalen Ludwig.

The HBA of Greater Des Moines, chartered in 1944, is a non-profit trade association affiliated with the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) and the Homebuilders Association of Iowa (HBAI). The HBA is dedicated in the advancement of the building industry, its members, and the communities it serves. Each member works to make the Des Moines Metro the best place to live, work and raise a family.
